Philip Soltysiak is the 2015 AWSI Male Windsurfer of the Year

Philip Soltysiak has been considered "Male Windsurfer of the Year" 2015 by the Association of Wind and Water Sports Industries (AWSI).

The Canadian windsurfer has had a busy year. He competed in the PWA World Tour, won the US Freestyle Windsurfing Championships, and placed in the top five at a couple of events on the American Windsurfing Tour.

"The best thing I observed about Phil was when he took a first-time Freestyle competitor under his wing. Phil was on the beach with this kid every day laughing and having a good time. It takes a high caliber of athlete to help out the next generation of competition. I think the AWSI made the right call in awarding him AWSI 'Athlete of the Year'," notes Cody Steward, executive director at US Windsurfing.
