Walk on Air at Brighton's New Vertical Pier

Pier

Brighton, England’s historic beachfront is getting a futuristic twist. The British Airways i360, engineered by the minds behind the iconic London Eye, is now the world’s tallest moving observation tower, boasting a 531-foot tall viewing tower that offers visitors a panoramic view of the surrounding coast. The tower stands in place of the West Pier, which burned down in 2013. Though the structure can’t replace the much beloved pier, architect David Marks says that, like its Victorian-era predecessor, the new “vertical pier” offers visitors “a new perspective on the city and its setting between the land and the sea, to walk on air.”
