Why Adrenaline Junkies Flock to this Greek Island Airport

The island of Skiathos has the classic hallmarks of any Grecian vacation. Gorgeous beaches, a picturesque waterfront, and plenty of sunshine -- with the added bonus of being able to feel what it’s like to have an airplane zoom directly over their heads. Footage of the edge of the island’s airport shows tourists gathered as landing planes fly by mere feet above the eager spectators. But being in the wake of a plane that’s just taking off is another story altogether. The jet blasts from departing planes kick up dirt, sand, and other debris that ends up pelting the gathered tourists. The adrenaline-friendly attraction has become a must-see for Skiathos’ more daring visitors.
