This Small Illinois Town Is Now Home to Eight Huge Guinness World Records

Big Sculpture Bolin Illinois

In order to boost business in the small town of Casey, Illinois local Jim Bolin realized he needed to think big. Like, receiving eight Guinness World Records big. In order to attract tourists to the town of 2,700 people, Bolin started crafting oversized objects like a 56.5-foot tall rocking chair, a 33-foot-tall mailbox, and a 13-foot set of knitting needles—all of which have been officially sanctioned as the biggest in the world.

The project started when Bolin crafted a 56-foot-tall wind chime to attract business to his wife’s tea shop. After the idea proved to be successful he expanded the project from helping out one store to boosting the awareness of the whole town. Now, with citizens of the town donating material to these giant creations, the invigoration of Casey has truly become a community effort.
