A Miniature Redwood Forest Has Popped up in the Middle of Brooklyn

Redwood

Downtown Brooklyn has recently become home to an exhibition sure to be a favorite of art and nature lovers alike. Artist Spencer Finch collaborated with the Public Art Fund to painstakingly create a redwood forest in miniature. Working off topographical and canopy height maps provided by the Save The Redwoods Foundation, Finch took a 790-acre section of the Redwood National Park and recreated a 1:100 scale version in Brooklyn’s MetroTech Commons. While their Californian cousins can reach almost 400 feet in height, the trees that make up Lost Man Creek are just one to four feet tall.

The installation will be on display until March 11th.
